And the best bit? I didn’t even know.
The news came from a lovely follower who spotted it and messaged me. Cue me immediately hunting down a copy and having a little is-this-actually-real?! moment.
So yes, I might harp on about this for a little while longer. Sorry, not sorry. 😉
A floral, but very much my kind of floral
Alright Petal actually began with a commission I was working on for a collector who wanted to bring the feeling of her garden into her home.
Stepping away from a traditional floral, taking all that colour, movement and slightly unruly beauty and translating it into something much looser and more expressive.
The result is loopy, scrappy, fresh and full of energy.
It has all my signature mark-making, layered colour and gestural lines, but with a definite nod to flowers and the wildness of a garden. A modern abstract floral with a little bit of attitude.
Because, as with all my work, it’s about more than simply adding colour to a wall. Alright Petal is a little reminder to embrace the parts of yourself that don't fit neatly inside the lines.
