A reminder that some things just take as long as they take...

I’ve been a professional abstract artist for 2 years and at points I question if I should be further ahead than I am, and other times I think I am exactly where I need to be, and lately, since launching Find Your Pink, I have been reminded why…
I quit full time employment to follow my dream shortly after having my daughter Gracie. The time wasn’t perfect, I didn’t feel ready, but balancing work with the needs of my daughter became untenable so I decided to take the leap anyway and it has taken time for me to feel like I have something that resembles a robust working practice.

Despite a background in digital marketing, I had A LOT to learn when it came to the mechanics of it all - I’d sold the strategy but I had never had to execute it personally. Teaching myself how to use the many digital platforms and shoot my own content was a minefield and I sought help in the form of YouTube tutorials and tons of free tools, just figuring it out as I go.
Life happens. I started this journey so I could flex to meet the needs of my daughter and I have 100% been able to do that. It has meant huge chunks of time have been obliterated due to sickness, appointments, prioritising her development activities and just prioritising spending time with her... but I wouldn’t change that for the world.
I have also taken many ‘wrong turns’. My (late diagnosed) neurodivergent brain wants to do ALL the things and there has been a severe lack of focus over the last two years, with some success! I have done things I am extremely proud of, like taking over a large disused unit at the mill I work from and turning it into my first pop-up gallery! Then there has been time wasted on things that just haven’t advanced me or my practice - but there are always positives to take from these ‘failures’ too.

And lastly, most importantly, it takes time to build meaning into your art and for that to be reflected in how you present yourself and your work, and ultimately resonate with your collectors. This just can’t be rushed. My life, my struggles, my creative process, my eternal need to find the positives and bring back my vibrancy in middle age have all combined at the perfect point in time.
I launched Find Your Pink at the start of the year, rebranding my website and leaving behind my well established Abstract by Krissy Instagram account with nearly 2000 followers, as I just knew it would help my message reach more like minded women - and thankfully I was right (phew!) I’m having more of the conversations I’ve wanted to have in the last two weeks than I have in the last two years. Some utterly beautiful DMs that stay with me.
So thank you so much for being here. Every visit or follow from a woman who has felt, at some point, that she has lost her colour, reminds me that I am exactly where I need to be - And please remember, my DM is always open ❤️
